Vote on the three final nameplates
Here are the three final type treatments we are considering for the nameplate of the Skiff.
Take a close look at the options and vote on your favorite.
Leave comments if you can.
There will be refinements throughout the month, but one of the three will be the foundation element for the nameplate.

The top one looks distinct, crisp and more professional. The bottom two look the same to me. They both look softer and more informal and look just like the headlines in the picture below. I like our fountains on all of them, it is kind of traditional looking while the rest of the page is all new..
ReplyDeleteThe top one has a really distinct font for both 'TCU Daily' and 'Skiff' and they have a similar feel so it doesn't feel balanced. They don't seem to complement each other.
ReplyDeleteSince you went with a modern font for 'TCU Daily', I think you should keep a more traditional-looking font like in the bottom two.
I like the top one the best. It's hard to tell the main difference between the three of them. They all look so similar. I do, however, like the headline front style across the picture. It seems more clear and crisp to the eye. There is also a tad more spacing between the main picture and the edges of the paper on the top one. This gives it a better look and feel, I think. I also like how "TCU Daily" is a little larger on the top one. I like the fountains on all three. It nice to have those. The "Skiff" is rather large on all three, though.
